What is Synchronicity and Why Does it Matter?

According to the Merriam-Webster dictionary synchronicity is:
“The coincidental occurrence of events and especially psychic events (such as similar thoughts in widely separated persons or a mental image of an unexpected event before it happens) that seem related but are not explained by conventional mechanisms of causality.”

Synchronicity and Spiritual Awakening
For many, synchronicity starts with seeing the repetition of certain numbers like 11:11, 222, 333 or 555. Google these numbers and you will find that they have multiple meanings. Some who see these numbers often believe that angels or spirt guides are communicating with them. Recognition of the meaning of number sequences can even trigger a spiritual awakening. Some even say that the language of the universe is math.
My spiritual awakening and journey began to unfold back in 1990 when my ex-wife and I had an encounter with a blue glowing orb that floated in through an open window of our apartment one night. Had it not been for the fact that we both witnessed it, I may have thought that it was just part of a dream, but it wasn’t. Furthermore, it displayed a certain degree of intelligence in how it interacted with us. This mystical and strange encounter forced me to consider that there is more to the Universe than I had ever fully considered before. Was this a spirit or an intelligent entity? I don’t know, but it opened my eyes and made me think beyond the norms of what I had been taught in school.
In 1993, I read James Redfield’s compelling book, “The Celestine Prophecy.” This book further raised new questions of spirituality and purpose. At the heart of this book is the exploration of the concept of synchronicity and the unveiling of 9 spiritual insights to the protagonist in this story as he journeyed across Peru. One of the insights that stuck with me was the idea that there are no coincidences.
“I don’t think that anything happens by coincidence. No one is here by accident. Everyone who crosses our path has a message for us. Otherwise, they would have taken another path, or left earlier or later. The fact that these people are here means that they are in our lives for some reason.
”
Learning that there are no coincidences was a biggie to me. Once I understood that there is potential meaning in every situation, I became aware of synchronicity and how it was working in my life. Synchronicity became a guidepost at times that has helped me find my life’s purpose.
Another spiritual novel that is rich with synchronicity is “The Alchemist.” This is a book that I had been thinking of buying for some time when an Instagram friend wrote in a post that "The Alchemist" was her favorite book when she was growing up. I wrote a message back to her saying that I was thinking of buying it. She wrote back that for some unknown reason she was thinking of me when she wrote that post. We have never met in person or talked about this book before. To me this was a sign that it was time to read this book so I ordered it. "The Alchemist" totally spoke truth into my life and it reminded me to trust the Universe and that I was heading in the right direction. Be open and know that signs and messages can come to us in the most surprising ways.

There Are No Coincidences
When we have a spiritual awakening, our lives start to unfold in beautiful ways. Through awareness we begin to see the role that synchronicity plays in our lives. Realizing that there are no coincidences, we find meaning and direction. Everything happens for a reason whether it is to teach us, to guide us or to lead us. Open your eyes to synchronicity and you will see magic and miracles all around you.

In the coming years, much, much more is going to be revealed to humanity. If you are awake, you will see new opportunities. If you are asleep, you may respond to the coming changes with fear. The Universe is magical. Let it guide you to your purpose and to your destiny.
